Seems like everywhere I’ve turned recently, there is a reminder that Veteran’s Day is near. I noticed this morning that even McDonalds had gotten into the spirit and surrounded their parking lot with miniature flags. It was a beautiful sight to behold.
I am grateful to the men and women who serve, or have served, in our armed forces. The sacrifices they have made for country and family are not appreciated nearly enough. We currently have three young men associated with our congregation who are serving their country with pride. I, personally, am proud to be the daughter, niece, cousin, and aunt of people who are/have served this great nation.
But as much I appreciate the freedom I enjoy as a citizen of the United States of America, even more important to me is the freedom I have in being a child of the King. Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice and paid a price beyond measure for the freedom I enjoy as His disciple. Just like soldiers throughout history, He sacrificed his comforts and literally himself so that I…and you….could live free from the bondage of sin. “There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” John 15:13
Because of Christ’s ultimate sacrifice, I am able to worship my Father in freedom and in truth. God deemed that I….and you…were worthy, because “He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins.” Ephesians 1:7. He had to make a way so that none would be lost and He chose His one and only son to accomplish that mission. Because of Christ’s obedience, I am free!
Through you the kingdom comes
Through you the battle's won
Through you I'm not afraid
Through you the price is paid
Through you there's victory
Because of you my soul sings
I am free, yes, I am free
I am free to run (I am free to run)
I am free to dance (I am free to dance)
I am free to live for you (I am free to live for you)
I am free (I am free); Yes, I am free (I am free)
I pray that we, as His people, never take this priceless gift of freedom for granted.
Blessings…..Sandi Martin, CWC Coordinator
