Sometimes I feel like a broken record … for those of you who know what I am referring to .. I feel like the stylus is stuck in a groove. But over and over God shows me that obedience to His Word, obedience to His leading is what He wants from me. (John 15.14) You are my friends if you do what I command. (John 14.15) If you love me, keep my commands. (James 1.25) But if you look into the perfect law that sets you free, and you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it. Shall I go on?
This week has been a compilation of days with successes, with events that are bringing to realization the prayers and efforts of months and years of many people. Certainly, along the way there have been times of discouragement and frustration. God’s Word tells us we will have those times. But it also says if we are faithful in the tasks we are given…there will be more tasks.
I must highlight the joy I have on Thursday nights. Spending concentrated hours with kids ages 12-18 who have experienced trouble, hurt, and discouragement resulting in their placement in a residential treatment facility has become the highlight of my week. Watching their hunger for hope fills me with a passion and energy that can only be from the Holy Spirit. In God’s economy where nothing is wasted, I have been the parent of a teenager in this type of facility. Knowing the trouble and pain on all sides of this coin inspires me to love, not judge; trust not doubt.
God does not waste anything – ever. The tears you shed, the love you share can be used for His good. Isaiah 55.11 The Word of God produces fruit, accomplishes His purpose and does what its supposed to do! (Pastor Deb’s version!) Our God is faithful.
Prayers and Blessings to each …By His Word Alone.
